During the COVID-19 pandemic, Guirlene Pierre found herself in a situation where she was unable to work due to her son’s need for remote learning. After sometime, the struggles that many parents during the pandemic had to endure started leading Guirlene to overwhelming stress and then eventually
depression. She was searching and praying to find a purpose, anything that can distract her during this difficult time. Then out of nowhere she decided to revisit her hobby of natural soap making.

After venturing back into her old hobby, Guirlene found herself less stressed and more joyous. She would give out soaps to her friends and family to try and they seemed to like it. Her biggest inspiration came from her little sister, who was all about natural and organic products. She expressed her love of the soaps and suggested creating a whole natural skin care line. Guirlene took that suggestion to heart and from there Journèe Lumiére was born.
